The world perfume capital’s activity is essentially turned towards international relations, which means that the thirty or so factories actually provide for a global market. From all over the world, raw materials are sent to Grasse to be treated.

That is why Grasse has succeeded in making its industry an art, combining luxury, refinement and quality in the products it creates or transforms. This art is perceptible when you visit a perfumery, by creating your own perfume during a workshop or just by strolling along the alleys in the historic centre.

Flowers have given Grasse, the World Perfume Capital, its aristocratic title. There once was a time when the city was graced with the breathtaking sight and heady perfume of gardens and flower fields filled with jasmine, rose and tuberose, the three queens of the flower kingdom so essential to the perfume industry. Today, some twenty farmers cultivate such flower fields, and certain gardens are conceived so as to preserve this heritage by composing a rich bouquet of the fragrances of Provence.

JASMIN, THE KING OF THE FESTIVAL

Iconic manifestation in Grasse since 1946, the «Jasmine Festival» always falls in early August, the month of picking the delicate embaying flower. Since the first edition, the popular festivities are always in full swing. As far back in time; concerts, art exhibitions, parades of musicians, festivals, puppet shows, fireworks and dances, punctuate three days of joy and happiness. In 2015, the festival promises to be even more paced, cheerful, popular and energetic with confetti everywhere, from jasmine water sprayed on passersby to armfuls of throne flowers as if it has rained.
